In the jungle of the press, assumptions and anonymity due to "fear of reprisals" are the "truthful" source for creating grand writings sold as "serious investigations," where the friends of friends are covered by the same umbrella of the media magnate of perversion.

In their stubbornness, writers couldn't care less about the difference between informing and making believe, and with "assumptions" on any topic, they seize the right to construct stories with half-truths or by distorting and misrepresenting all kinds of data. They are merciless butchers even towards those behind every person, for they do not care about the reputation or innocence of those they lynch publicly.

Militant journalism is a thing of the past, at least in our country. The compass that points to ethics broke many years ago, perhaps due to the hunger for power and money or the desire of media owners to believe they can still make or break "kings."

The dance of their words and paragraphs only represents the baseness of the political activism that abounds in their minds. Their "modus operandi" seems commendable to them, at least as it flatters the interests of their monetary slaveholders. That’s why they saturate their websites and social media with "journalistic" garbage, with conspiracies very much in the style of Richard Donner’s "The Conspiracy," believing they walk the streets of fame and decency. Please!

Their fanaticism is such that they think they know everything about the "secret" purposes of the actions of anyone in public office. They go after them, and when innocence is proven or it becomes clear that things are not as they published with brutality, they prefer to question the verdicts or the truth itself in an effort not to look bad before their audiences.

It is truly a shame that a profession that was once noble now flounders in the ocean of fanaticism, resentment, envy, the highest bidder’s offer, and sordid opportunism. This is why they give voice to those thirsty for five minutes of fame—think of the crazies, barflies, exiled drunks, pulpit merchants, legal hacks, among others. The scribes are mere automatons of the powerful creators of the corrupt and murderous bipartisan system, who receive just one call to become jesters in the jungle of words.

The savagery of articles built on the basis of anonymity, assumptions, or "I’m sure that..." is so common in our society that truth lives in the murky world manipulated by characters interested in forging chaos from within or without, even at the very core where the courtiers wander. As the father of modern novel, Honoré de Balzac, said: "Envy is a declaration of inferiority." And that is what drives some organizers of disorder, dressed in ingenious cloaks of loyalty while dripping with ambition.

There is no doubt that we are in a moment that showcases the most sensationalist and vile journalism, with an absolute lack of ethics and humanism. They know that the fanfares only come from those who embrace their own interests, who share their dreams of returning to the system of the ARENA and FMLN twins, and they turn a deaf ear to the scorn and insults of honest Salvadorans who love their country and support President Nayib Bukele. The new reality of more than 6 million citizens does not interest them.

It is journalistic cannibalism that considers its consumers completely idiotic, who are absorbed in their absurd narratives.

Despite you, mercenaries of the written word, who sweat the humors of others and immediately emit the smell of those who pay you, the country moves forward firmly in the new story of good in which you do not participate.
